A little discovery table, made with what you already have

Put two or three everyday objects on the table, each with a different texture. Choose things that are safe for your child’s age: a soft towel, a smooth wooden spoon with no splinters, or a large plastic bowl.

Let them explore at their own pace

Give your child time to touch, compare and find their own ways to play. You can put what they’re discovering into words: “The towel feels soft. The spoon feels smooth.” There’s no need to turn it into a quiz — just see what catches their interest.

Follow your child’s lead

If they don’t like a particular texture, it’s fine to leave it out. Use clean objects in good condition, with no sharp edges or small parts that could come loose. Stay close and explore together.
